Groovera Reviews: Stolen Identity "Lovely"
Stolen Identity's debut album "Hearts and Stories" was through and through a perfect debut release. We don't often get the joy of hearing an equally good follow up from many artists, which is the uncommonly delightful case with Stolen Identity's sophomore release Lovely and the Audio Popsicle album of the month for March 2010.
Start to finish, Lovely is an outstanding release. It is really hard to pick only one track from this release as a hit as nearly every track is hit material, whether instrumental or vocal melodic. How do they do it? All I can say is that I am glad that Chris and Mia did it again!
With the impeccable production of Chris Paul and the lush, sexy voice of Mia Victoria, Lovely is a showcase of sensual downtempo instrumentals, downbeat vocals, deep house, and sophisticated lounge pop. Starting off the album with the title track, "Lovely" sets the mood and is followed up with the lush instrumental "Broken Door". The beautifully melodic "Is It Love" rivals anything ever done by Morcheeba or Hooverphonic while "Moving On" forces me to confess that this song has been stuck in my head for weeks at a time, even hearing it echoing in my mind when I awake in the morning. "Open Arms", "One Day" and "Lullaby" are also superb lounge pop tracks while "Waterfall", "Mallorca" and "Hot & Dry" are some of the fine instrumentals found on this CD and which can also be heard on our channel Jet City Lounge.
I cannot offer a greater recommendation than Lovely for an album that your chill-out collection requires. You must pick up a copy of this album and also pick up Hearts and Stories while you're at it!
